GAIMS Congratulates AAPI on IAMRA Partnership—A Milestone in Global Medical Regulation

New Delhi, May 26, 2025 — Global Association of Indian Medical Students (GAIMS) extends its congratulations to the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) on its formal acceptance as a Partner Member of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA).

IAMRA unites 116 member organizations across 44 countries, committed to strengthening medical regulation and advancing patient safety worldwide. AAPI’s induction represents a significant step forward in enhancing global cooperation in healthcare governance and professional standards.

This milestone reinforces AAPI’s leadership in the global medical community and underscores the growing influence of Indian-origin medical professionals in shaping regulatory policy and international best practices.

GAIMS acknowledges the instrumental role played by AAPI’s leadership, particularly Dr. Satheesh Kathula and Dr. Lokesh Edara, in securing this recognition. Their efforts align with GAIMS’s own mission to promote youth engagement, health diplomacy, and cross-border collaboration.

As one of India’s largest youth-led medical student organization with presence in 20 states and five countries, GAIMS has collaborated with AAPI on a range of public health and education initiatives—including Project Suraksha, a national HPV vaccine awareness campaign, and international research methodology programs. These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to advancing health equity and empowering the next generation of global health leaders.

This achievement further strengthens the institutional bond between GAIMS and AAPI and reaffirms a joint vision to amplify Indian voices—particularly youth—in global health discourse and policymaking.
